We had our first appointment at our new Doctor's office on August. 29. We had to change physicians because we are carrying multiples and are therefore high risk. Our new physician is Dr. Durland, we think! The process is to meet first with the nurse practitioner, who was great! She was very patient with ALL of our questions and discussed what we can expect to happen in the near future. She mentioned a modified work schedule for Allison, which will take a little getting used to, but in her words, "The more rest you get, the longer they stay inside you and the less time they spend in the NICU." That was all the convincing we needed and now we will wait and see what happens with Allison's work schedule. The best part of any appointment is getting to hear the heartbeats of Baby A and Baby B! They were nearly the same at this appointment, 148 & 152. We could truly listen to the heartbeats all day!
Since we are having twins, we will go for appointments every two weeks, so we will get to hear the heartbeats every other week!
We found out at this appointment since the babies are identical twins, we will need to see a perinatalogist for an advanced ultrasound. This of course FREAKED us out, but apparently it is standard procedure. We will go for that appointment in 2 weeks in KC.
